Our students have loved learning about the Olympics. Through the theme of Tokyo 2020 students have measured and mapped, investigated and designed, planned and researched. We have taken this opportunity to further develop our understanding of Japanese culture and have watched excitedly as athletes from around the world have competed in these historic games.

In Design and Technology classes Ms Gregory’s students were able to hold both a real and replica olympic torch from two different Olympics, carefully observing and comparing their features. They were introduced to an Olympian, Leon Gregory, through photos and memorabilia of his Olympic Games in Melbourne 1956. The children were very interested in all the different technology associated with athletics in past history and were especially excited to hold Leon’s silver medal. We thank Leon for allowing these artefacts to be shared with our students.
