It’s back to Kindy for our Reception students!  The Reception classes have been visiting Woodend Children’s Centre this month! As you can see from the photos, the students have had a lot of fun!  For those that attended the centre last year, it was a picture to watch them reacquaint with familiar adults and children and engage in familiar spaces.  For those Reception students new to the centre, there was plenty to see, hear and explore.  Our play visits are part of Woodend’s transition program that occurs over the year in preparation for the 2018 intake of new students as well as continuing connections with school and kindy for our 2017 students. Next term, Woodend Children’s Centre children will visit our Reception classes and we coordinate visits for Trott Park Kindy and Goodstart Early Learning students.

These opportunities allow children from prior-to-school settings to gradually familiarise themselves to school life – spaces, faces and routines.  We thank our neighbouring prior-to-school settings for networking with us and enabling these opportunities to occur.  We trust that the visits assist children to feel more comfortable coming to our school and in time, develop a sense of belonging.
