In today’s digital age, keeping our children safe online is crucial. We wish to draw your attention to a potential online safety issue due to the resurgence in use of the dangerous website ‘Omegle.’ While this site is blocked by our school’s filtering, some young people may be accessing this outside of school.

Omegle is a platform where people can chat with strangers anonymously via text or video. As you can imagine, this poses serious risks for young users.

While this may not directly involve your child, it’s essential to stay informed about what they might encounter online. We urge you to talk to your child about online safety, especially regarding platforms like Omegle. It is also wise to revisit Screen Time and other safety measures.

At school, we teach and revisit privacy and online safety lessons. If you need more support or have concerns, please reach out to us. Your child’s safety is our top priority, both inside and outside the classroom.

The website of the eSafety Commissioner is also a valuable resource that provides up-to-date information for parents and educators: eSafety Commissioner.

Thank you for partnering with us to create a safe online environment for our students.
