The Woodend year 5/6 Boys Sapsasa Soccer team competed in round 1 of the Statewide Schools Soccer competition today at Concordia College.

Game 1 vs Woocroft Primary School.

The team played a great first half and were able to score 3 goals (Mali 2 goals, Jacob 1 goal) to lead at half time 3-1. The Woodcroft team fought back to draw the game 3-3. Both teams then had a penalty shootout with Woodcroft winning that 3-0.

Game 2 vs Concordia College

Our boys came up against a very strong and skilful opposition in this game. Concordia scored 2 early goals and we defended well to keep it 2-0 at half time. Concordia ran away with the game in the 2nd half to win 10-0.

Game 3 vs Flagstaff Hill

It was excellent to see the positive and enthusiastic attitude that was shown by all players in this game and Woodend got the first goal to lead 1-0. Flagstaff scored twice to lead 2-1 at half time. It was an exciting second half with lots of goals scored and the game finished in a 1 goal win to Flagstaff 6-5.

Thank you to the parents who helped transport and cheer on our team today and well done to all of the players who kept giving each game their best effort in all 3 games.
