We are very fortunate to have a fantastic sister school Myojo Gakuen in Tokyo, Japan. Pre covid we took a group of senior students to Myojo every second year for a 12 day Study Tour and homestay programme. Myojo students and teachers also visited us every March to enjoy school life at Woodend and also be part of a home stay programme.

To keep our relationship strong with Myojo during covid times students from our  Year 5/6 classes have been enjoying  Zoom lessons with Myojo’s Year 5 and 6 classes.

Two of our 5/6 classes have enjoyed Zoom sessions over the past 2 weeks and 2 more classes will have their experience next week.

Room 17 students enjoyed a fun, exciting live quiz lessons with a Yr 5 class last week. How wonderful to be able to play against the Japanese students live while watching them on the big TV screen. Lots of chatting and laughs were had and great involvement from everyone.

This week a group of students from Rooms 28 and 27 combined to work in pairs and ask questions to a pair from Myojo via iPads. To walk around the classroom and see and hear questions being asked in Japanese and replies to the Myojo students’ questions was just amazing. The students can be very proud of what they achieved.

Next week Rooms 29 and 27 will have the same experiences.

We look forward to the return of our exchange with Myojo but are so thrilled that we can keep the relationship strong through these Zoom lessons.
