It was a nail biting start to the year with the round 1 of the boys SAPSASA Cricket on Friday against Woodcroft Primary School.
Woodend batted first and ended up with 3/121 after the 20 overs. There was lots of strong running between the wickets, which was positive to see.
Best with the bat:
Tom (26), Eli (25), Zac (13) all not out.
The boys struggled to bowl full and accurately in the first 10 overs with the ball and were able to tighten up in the second half of the innings. It all came down to the last over with Woodcroft needing 12 runs and Woodend needed 1 wicket.
Zac bowled a tight last over and was able to take the wicket to win the game. Woodcroft were all out for 114.
Best with the ball:
Ansh – 2/8 from 2.
Eli – 2/6 from 2.
Zac – 1/5 from 2, a great effort under pressure bowling the 18th and 20th over.
Well done to all the students on winning a close game of cricket and displaying team work. Thank you to parents, Acey and Dave for scoring the game. Woodend now move onto round 2.
