Our Stargazing Evening on the school oval will be fabulous. Dean Davison (Skywatch) will be conducting the evening along with members of the astronmical society. Saturn, Venus and Mars will all be visible in the West. And yes, if it is a clear night, we should get a good view of the Rings of Saturn through the telescopes. Sunset will be around 7.35pm.
There will be a cost of $5 per person for this 90 minute experience. Please pay your money at the school office or on QKR! (after Tuesday 30 August). Tickets will be distributed from the school office.
It would be great if people would like to bring their own telescopes and binoculars, and you will be shown how to use them properly if you are unsure.
Here is the Star Chart for September; they are published in the Saturday Advertiser each month.

Will this be held at the school grounds or at another venue?

Hi Simon. It will be on the school oval. I had that in an earlier version and somehow it got dropped off. I’ve put it back in the post. Thanks for alerting me to that.

Hi, just wondering what sort of telescopes will be used? I have a 12″ dobsonian i *might* be able to bring if you need more telescopes, i’m only an amateur using it, it’s computerised as well but i’m yet to figure that part out properly as i’ve only used the scope a few times, but if i can figure out a way to transport it there i’m happy to bring it if it’s needed

That sounds great Daniel. The more the better. They should be able to show you exactly how to use it.
