This term, Reception students visited the Living Kaurna Cultural Centre. The children learnt so many new things during this excursion. We were welcomed with a traditional smoking ceremony. We enjoyed a tour with our guide Uncle Billy, where we were taught about bush tucker, bush medicine, how objects such as shields and digging sticks were made from natural materials, how the seasons affected where the Kaurna people lived (Winter and Summer) and so much more.
After the tour the children were able to do some weaving. When we got back to school the children created a piece of artwork using symbols. Attached are some photos of the day.
