Our STEAM Week Expo officially opened last night in the school gym.  We took some photos of several of the hundreds of exhibits before the families arrived to view them.  So many families had taken up the challenge to “repurpose” an unused household item!  There were some very unique creations and investigations made by students with their families! There were items that turned into gardening projects, repurposed items that became turbines, bird feeders, marble runs, an air hockey game, clothing items, Christmas decorations and toys!  So much creative as well as scientific and mathematical thinking had gone into these projects.

Classes in their year level teams chose to showcase an aspect of STEAM where there was “more than meets the eye”.  There was information about bees and their ability to pollinate, creative Japanese 2 D and 3 D art work, studies about habitats and the study of sound and ways to alter pitch and volume with handmade instruments, displays showing knowledge of the emotions and tools to help regulate our emotions as well as ways to creatively use glass. Here are just a few examples of the displays:
