Did you know that when Woodend Primary School was first built way back in 1995, we planted a beautiful Rose Garden out the front?

Over the years we have enjoyed watching the roses bloom and grow from tiny plants into mature rose bushes.

It is a tradition at Woodend that we welcome our youngest and farewell our oldest students with a handmade rose. Due to COVID-safe protocols this year, we have not been able to gather in large groups to welcome our new Receptions in February but now that the restrictions have been lifted, we conducted our much-loved Rose Ceremony.  On Thursday we could officially welcome our newest members of Woodend Primary School … our Reception students from Rooms 3, 4, 11 and 12.

We wish these new students who are just 4 and 5 years of age, every success in their future journey of learning at Woodend.

As a special welcome for the Receptions, they were each presented with a rose by our eldest members of Woodend, the Year 6 students.  We hope that the Reception children continue to bloom and grow just like our beautiful roses in the Rose Garden.

We also thank Ms Ottewell’s Year 5/6 class for making the roses.  We hope you enjoy watching the ceremony.
