Yesterday our Wakakirri students performed for our school community. This group of students worked hard throughout the year, in their own time, to bring together an excellent performance entitled ‘Black Water’. Due to COVID restrictions, the Wakakirri competition has moved to an online format this year and a recording of the Woodend performance was submitted last week.

The story of ‘Black Water’:
Did you know that 80% of the marine life in the Great Australian Bight can be found nowhere else in the world! Recently oil companies have shown an interest in drilling for oil in the Great Australian Bight.  Our Dance Story “Black Water” forewarns of the devastation an oil spill would cause the Great Australian Bight marine life and firmly takes a stand that drilling for oil in this unique landmark should not be permitted.
