Rock band has been a part of our music program at Woodend for a number of years. Last year, it was not available to students due to funding changes. Feedback from our community has indicated that there is a strong desire for this program to continue as an added program at a cost to families. With this in mind, the formation of our 2020 Rock Band will begin in coming weeks.

There will be some changes to the rock band format this year, with students asked to prepare an audition. Auditions will be run by Paul Henson, our guitar and band teacher, as well as Jarrod Lamshed. As well as being able to play at the required ability level, we will be looking for students who show dedication, a positive attitude, enthusiasm for music and a high level of preparation. Successful students will be offered a place in the band. Band rehearsals will take place on Thursday afternoons after school in the studio and will run from 3:15 – 4:15pm.  There will be at a cost of $10 per lesson (paid by the term).

Initially, we will be auditioning students for keyboards, vocals, bass guitar, drums and percussion. With the possibility of adding other instruments in the future. All students who are in rock band should be having instrument (including vocalists) lessons to develop their playing.

The audition Process:

Students can audition for rock band in one of two ways. They can be invited by their current instrumental music teacher or can fill out the expression of interest form available from the front office. Once this is done, students will then be allocated an audition time and given information to be able to prepare for their audition.
