As I have previously mentioned, Year 7 will be taught in all South Australian high schools from 2022.

As part of planning for the move, the Department for Education has short-listed 3 high schools as potential pilot schools to ‘Lead the Way’ and offer Year 7 in a high school setting from 2020.  The two schools in the Southern area are Wirreanda Secondary School and Mitcham Girls High School.

Several of our Woodend Primary School parents have, in past years, chosen Mitcham Girls High School for their child’s secondary schooling.

In 2020, it will be possible to enrol girls at Mitcham GHS for year 7 rather than a primary school, if you so wish.

See the attached flyer.

Consultation with the school community is now underway and families are invited to attend Parent Information Evenings, 6:00 – 7:00pm, at the locations below:

  • 13 March      Mitcham Memorial Library
  • 20 March      Woodcroft Morphett Vale Neighbourhood Centre
  • 27 March      Payneham Community Centre
  • 2 April            Mitcham Girls High School Performing Arts Centre

Please note that the Parent Information Evening on Tuesday 2 April will be specific to prospective Year 7s.

Parents are also invited to attend their Open Day/Night on Wednesday 10 April, 9-11am and 5-8pm.

Registration of Interest forms are now open through the Mitcham Girls High School webpage www.mitchamgirlshs.sa.edu.au and close on 24 May 2019.
