Last Friday 18th May, our Year 6/7 girls SAPSASA football team were host to Marymount College girls.

With 14 of our 19 Woodend girls playing their first ever Football game, we were so proud of how they persisted, kept encouraging each other, learnt from others and never gave up.  Woodend gave it their absolute best effort.

They all worked hard for the entire game in the tough wet conditions.

We ended up losing to Marymount by 4 goals and 14 points.

Well done girls and thank you to our coach Miss Mesecke for her great job training and coaching the team.

In the afternoon, our Year 6/7 Woodend boys were host to Braeview School.

We unfortunately ended up going down Braeview (7 goals, 11 points) 53 to Woodend (5 goals, 6 points) 36.

Thank you to the parents who came to support our girls and boy’s teams and helped out with jobs during the game.

On Tuesday 22nd May, our boys’ and girls’ teams were involved in SAPSASA Rugby League at Happy Valley Primary School.

Once again, we were very proud of our students and congratulate them for their team spirit.

Our boys finished in 3rd position and our girls ended up winning the competition!

The girls have now won a place into the state finals in week 10 of this term! A very big effort from both sides!

We thank the parents who helped with transport, first aid and cheered on our teams today.
