This year, eight Y4/5 students participated in Obento Masterchef event presented by Japanese Language Teachers’ Association of South Australia (JLTASA).

Students have used the knowledge about obento (Japanese lunch box) they have gained in Term 3 and planned their obento design with their partner in line with the theme- family (“kazoku” in Japanese).  They also had a challenge to use as many ingredients as possible to create a visually appealing obento.

There were 4 schools, 32 students in the afternoon session and Woodend PS has received 1st and 2nd places!  One of the judges said all Woodend groups have shown good organization skills, clear thinking and a great attitude during the competition.

This event has offered an opportunity for our students to demonstrate skills and abilities that they have learnt at school in a local competition.

Thank you very much for all the parents who supported students and myself during this event.  It was much appreciated.
