You will soon notice that we have a new ‘Koala’ crossing in Edward Beck Drive. A ‘Koala’ crossing has flashing lights as opposed to the current ‘Emu’ crossing where student put the flags out. The ‘Emu’ crossing will remain on Young St. Monitors have had training in how to operate the new crossing so they are ready to go for next term.

One significant change in the process for monitors on both crossings is that the whistle monitor will now check once the signs are up that all traffic is stopping before telling pedestrians that they can now cross safely with the command ‘walk’.

Please help our monitors out as they introduce these changes by waiting once the signs up for their command. They will feel a little uncomfortable at first instructing adults to ‘walk’ and would appreciate your support and encouragement.
