It was lovely to see so many parents and families at our Acquaintance Night.  It takes time to get to know each other, therefore we invite you to take up any opportunities  to meet and network with other parents.  Our Parent Network  is all about  connecting and helping each other as well as socialising.  We thank those who have offered to be class parent or  year level (Yr 6/7) reps.  Their role is to link with the needs of the class teachers and also to link with parents and caregivers to help build our school community’s capacity to learn and especially help our students learn more effectively.  We hope our networks allow  new families to build a sense of belonging  and we hope that the way we include others says something strong and positive about  the community we have at Woodend.

It takes time for parents and staff to get to know each other too.  We invite you to feel welcome to have a quick chat with our teachers before and after school any day.  The door is always open…  If, however, you need to have a conversation about your child or other important matters that requires some time and privacy, please arrange an appointment with your child’s teacher so that priority may be given to you.

As you know, we have quite a few teachers this year who are new to school or in new roles.  Over the next week or so we will  introduce them all to you …

I would like to introduce myself: my name is Cameron Wright and I will be teaching in Room 11 this year. I am very excited to be teaching at Woodend Primary School this year. Over the last four years I have taught at Plympton Primary and Woodville Primary in various roles. I also spent the two years prior teaching in Mount Gambier. Through this I have met many different people and have learnt to appreciate and acknowledge diversity. I now can only enjoy watching AFL, cricket, NBA and American Football due to a back injury I suffered playing footy and I am passionate in promoting healthy, active and positive lifestyles. I spent most of the holidays unpacking as I have just recently moved house. I look forward to a productive fun filled year.

Bolt 21

My name is Amelia Bolt and I am the new Year 2 (Room 21) Teacher at Woodend Primary School.  For the previous 6 years I have been working in schools in the country, including a year working in a Junior Primary class in London. I am extremely passionate about travel so living in London lead to many European adventures! I am extremely excited about my appointment to Woodend Primary School and look forward to getting to know all the students and their families.
